    Following its Q2 survey, the FSB recorded business confidence in the majority of sectors dipped, prompting the Voice of Small Business to urge the Government to explore the option of VAT cuts.  They have suggested targeting specific areas of construction and tourism in an effort to boost these key sectors.

    If your business is turning over £73,000 and you’re not VAT registered,  you may be the target of a campaign which HRMC gets underway today. Over the next few weeks the Revenue are targeting 40,000 UK businesses which should be VAT registered.  Your business needs to be registered for VAT if.

    Early warning, hefty increased penalties for late tax returns…

    You can expect higher penalties if you’re late with your tax returns from now on.  From 5 April this year, HRMC have increased the penalties they charge for late tax returns;  claiming the old penalty was not enough to stop late returns!
